  • ChallengeCreate Web site to publish student essays from students around the world on civic action topics and house a global Civic Voices Survey. In addition, IDD was asked to enhance the site to include multiple language capability and house the International Democracy Memory Bank project of student-created interviews (with transcripts) related to the 12 principles of democracy. Students from around the World are asked to conduct video interviews of people in their community that have made a difference in the struggle for democracy.
  • SolutionIDD designed and developed the Civic Voices Web site, www.civicvoices.org, to publish essays received from students around the world on a variety of civic topics. The Civic Voices Student Survey also invites students to respond to questions related to civic actions and compare their results with those in other countries. The Web site has been enhanced to accommodate multiple languages and now houses the International Democracy Memory Bank project. Teachers submit narratives that include student interviews with people in their community who have made a contribution in the growth of democracy. A full transcript accompanies each submission. All transcripts are published on the Web site, as well as selected video segments. Interviews are related to one of the 12 principles of democracy.
